IMPEACH JIM DOYLE

What an arrogant ass this governor is...

Reported in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "Diamond" Jim Doyle stated: "This is not a budget for the big oil companies or the big tobacco companies," Doyle said. "It is a budget for the middle-class and for those trying to get there."

In a campaign promise, Doyle said that:
"Going forward, my mind will be open to every solution -- except one. We should not -- we must not -- and I will not -- raise taxes.

Wisconsin's problem is not that we tax too little. It is that we spend too much.

If common sense doesn't lead us to that conclusion, simple arithmetic will.

Wisconsin is already one of the nation's most heavily taxed states. Adding to the burden would make it virtually impossible to attract new jobs while destroying more than 50,000 of the ones we already have."

L I A R

And this is how Diamond Jim wants to 'help' "the middle-class and for those trying to get there":
  • Increasing the annual car registration fee by 36%. This $20 increase (bringing it from $55 to $75). This would amount to the biggest single increase ever in vehicle registration fees, costing tax payers about $170 million more over the next two years. ANOTHER JIM DOYLE TAX INCREASE

  • Adding 791 new state workers. In 2002 when running for governor, Doyle said he would try to cut 10,000 state jobs by 2010. ANOTHER JIM DOYLE TAX INCREASE

  • Doubling (from $3 to $6 for every $1,000 of sale price) the real estate transfer fee paid when property is sold, costing taxpayers about $140 million more over the next two years. ANOTHER JIM DOYLE TAX INCREASE

  • Raise the tax on a pack of cigarettes $1.25, to $2.02. ANOTHER JIM DOYLE TAX INCREASE

  • Tax hospitals 1% of their gross revenues. Over two years, the hospital tax would bring in $418 million. ANOTHER JIM DOYLE TAX INCREASE

  • Increase driver's license fees by $10, from $24 to $34 for renewal. ANOTHER JIM DOYLE TAX INCREASE

  • Tax oil companies to fund roads. ANOTHER JIM DOYLE TAX INCREASE

  • Use some of the new transportation money to pay for school busing, debt and other costs. COOKING THE BOOKS WITH JIM DOYLE

I don't like Doyle. I like his proposed cigarette tax and smoking ban. With that said ... I think that the Democrats have a right to want to attack Big Oil. But the way they're going at it is all wrong. They look stupid when they want to try to cheat and steal form the Big Oil's profits. If they want to take a bite out of Big Oil, the Democrats need to become a competitor. They need to encourage and push alternative energies (ethanol, wind, solar, electric cars, commuter trains, mass transit, etc.). This will in turn eat into the Big Oil profits and cause them to tumble. Democrats need to get serious and attack Big Oil in a reasonable manner, not by acting like robin hood.

It does take courage standing in the center as an independent, it tells everyone what you don't stand for, but it leaves you open to barrels from both sides.

I used to be in the center until Newt drove me to the left and Bush exposed the Republicans for what they really are. Aside from the corruption and greed that everybody seems to love, there is a HUGE difference between the parties. I'm not affiliated with Democrats in any way, but I strongly support their causes. (at least the non-corrupt ones)

Ethanol is not an alternative energy, or should I say, it's not a good one. Do some research on the efficiency of ethanol. The MPG performance is so bad, you end up burning just as much actual gasoline to travel a fixed distance as you would if you used pure gasoline. It's not cheaper by any means. Plus, ethanol production is causing prices to go up for corn and food production, which affects us all at the supermarket checkouts. Hydrogen fuel cells and electric power (incorporating solar, wind, etc) should be the way to go for transportation applications - I wish the govt would focus on those technologies instead of ethanol.
